Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I was in and out of the ER due to migraines and on the last day they gave me a prescription of Compazine. The next day when I took it I laid down to take a nap and woke up struggling to breath. My throat was closing and I could barely talk. I went into a full blown panic attack and called the ambulance. They gave me 3 different shots of something I can't remember and rushed me to the hospital. My jaw felt locked like I clinching my teeth hard together by the time I got to the hospital. I was shaking uncontrollably and crying hysterically. After I was discharged I came home and chugged some childrens benadryl and took some xanax and felt the side effect slowly go away. I have never in my felt so scared."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Believe the reviews! Do not under any circumstances when going to the ER for a migraine/headache have them give you prochlorperazine through a IV. When it was given I had an insanely fast heart rate, my skin was crawling, and I literally stood up asked the nurse to remove my IV and I paced the hospital non stop. My wife drove me home and I literally paced my house for almost 3 days straight as I couldn’t sit still or sleep! It’s been a month since then and I’m still having PTSD from that incident."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I know all drugs come with side effects, but please listen to me and other people on here. I was given Compazine ONE time in February of 2019 for vomiting. I experienced graphic really dark thoughts, hallucinations, akathisia, tinnitus, panic attacks, brain zaps, a feeling of bugs crawling under my skin, paranoia, and at one point a complete inability to feel joy. I am still not myself and it is now July. There is nothing any doctor can do for you once this medication messes you up. I was a normal wife, mother, and employee and some days now I can’t take care of myself let alone my family. This drug has ruined my life and it was one dose for something as simple as nausea. There are much safer alternatives for nausea and vomiting."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I went into the ER for a really bad migraine and vomiting they gave me Benadryl and compazine within three minutes I had the worst panic attack of my life. My anxiety was through the roof. I unhooked myself from everything that I could and tried to get my IV out and demanded that I be let go thinking I would feel better when I got home. I have not slept in over 24 hours. I'm now on day 2 and I still want to crawl out of my skin. I can't stop shaking and crying. I want to crawl out of my skin or run away to get away from this feeling. I'm also shaky and anytime I think I'm about to fall asleep I get weird sadistic images that wake me up right away before I'm even all the way asleep. I don't know why this drug is legal. I hope people read these reviews and please don't let any doctor give you this medication the worst feeling of my life"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Went to ER for a migraine I could not control. Was given compazine by IV. Instantly felt like I was crawling out of my skin couldn't sit still. Went home and a few hours later ended back at the ER due to uncontrollable body movements. When I got there the doctor told me it was dystonia, which is a side effect reaction from the medication compazine which is unrerversible. It has been almost 7 months since this day and I still have uncontrollable muscle movements and severe anxiety. Please do not take this drug my life has been hell ever since."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I was prescribed compazine in 1989 for severe morning sickness during the forth month of my second pregnancy. By the third day, I was rushed to the hospital because my chin locked over my left shoulder, my tongue hung out of my mouth impeding my speech, the muscles in my eyes froze, keeping me from blinking. My five year old got home from school and found me drooling on my self, grunting b/c I could not speak. Good thing I'd taught her how to call 911. Shortly, an ambulance drove up and rushed me to the emergency room. They thought I'd had a stroke. Luckily, I had the vile of compazine in my purse. Needless to say, my son was born with neurological issues which have lasted a lifetime."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I went to ER for uncontrollable vomiting, I was given compazine (don’t know the dose but was via IV push and a syringe full). Immediately, I felt anxious and panicky. When I asked the nurse If this was suppose to happen she said If anything should make me feel more relaxed, WRONG! It’s been exactly six days and I still feel overly anxious, strangest and most scary vivid dreams and can not sit still. Have to walk nearly 8 miles a day to barely be able to sleep at night. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS, I HOPE AND PRAY SOMEONE CAN SEE THESE AND PREVENT THE AWFUL SIDE EFFECTS OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING! That is definitely going to be listed as an allergy to medication in future. I would had much rather dealt with throwing up from food poisoning than deal with these endless awful feelings. If anyone knows when will I be feeling normal again and constant panic and anxiety will go, and the as awful scary dreams would stop please PLEASE let me know or post here, I will check regularly"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Went to ER and was given this drug w out any details, not one time did the nurses tell me what was about to happen. I thought I was going crazy!!! I could not sit still, it was the worse experience ever!!!! Do NOT allow the medical sheep give this to you. Matter of fact when you go to ER take someone with you and ask questions and don’t let them put anything in your IV with out Googling it!!!!! This is next day and still not 100 %."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Been taking for years for nausea from Irritable Bowel Syndrome etc. Works great and quickly! Get restless legs next day but that ends quickly. Heard that if taking it regularly long term you should have liver and kidneys monitored as it can do damage to them!"

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I agree with the review about how all these other reviews have identical symptoms. I to question if they are for real. I had a migraine and severe nausea and a simple 5 mg over an hour’s time worked for me."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Absolute worst experience. Please read the reviews. They gave me this for a headache, heart rate went to 155, I felt like I was going to die, never in my life have I felt that level of panic, my first instinct was to rip my IV out. Became restless, skin crawling feeling like I needed to jump out of my body. It was the most uncomfortable I have ever felt. Once home I paced back and forth for hours, I could not sit or lay down. I felt like I was losing my mind - I felt just wanted it to stop. I called the hospital, they suggested benadryl, the ONLY thing that let me lay down after hours. I took a couple more the next day to be able to stop moving every second. It's been 33 hours since I was given this med and I am still restless, cannot stop moving my legs. I don't care how much pain or how nauseous I could be or how much someone paid me, never in my life would I take this again and I wish I looked it up first."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "If i could rate this lower than a 1 I would. Worst. Experience. Of my life. I had severe nausea from a dental infection in the hospital and the doctors gave me compazine through IV. I don't even know when this happened but I had a crazy out of body experience. I saw myself laying in my bed and had NO idea where I was. I thought I was in Arizona at first at a hotel and then freaked out because I had no clue who the people in the room were (my parents, my regular nurses). The room spun and then I vomited everywhere. It was horrifying. I was nauseous for about twelve more hours and then had hallucinations. I saw people walking in and out of my hospital room that I knew damn well weren't real or there.DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I was given this for nausea & a migraine. It did not help me with either, but made me anxious and I felt like my skin was crawling. I've never experienced anything like that. I was ready to pull the IV out myself & escape from the room if they didn't hurry up and discharge me. I've never had a response to a medicine like that before, and it was absolutely awful. Worst hour if my life."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I went to the ER yesterday for a migraine and was given compazine and fell asleep, however when I woke up I felt off like something wasn't right. I couldn't stay still, I just felt uneasy. It wasn't until I just read the comments in this thread that I realized that I the compazine had a side effect on me. I will definitely put it on my non-medication list. I still feel weird the next day. I even called off of work. I hope this helps someone else."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "Went to the ER with extreme dizziness. They wound up giving me Compazine. I wasn’t even familiar with what it was. I felt strange at first, but then my hands contorted & froze. My mouth had almost completely clamped shut. An orderly or a CNA just happened to come by to empty trash. I barely was able to say please go get someone something’s not right. The dr at first thought I had stroked. He ran some test gave me some Benadryl which helped. I would never take this drug again."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I went to the ER with a migraine and I got this through an IV. I was totally fine and all happy until this drug hit me. I went completely insane. I got claustrophobic, I wanted to kill myself, I started twitching, and I got super anxious. They gave me some Benadryl which helped so they sent me home. On the way home it happened again, and it kept happening all night even after I kept taking Benadryl. The only time I felt not insane was when I was sleeping but I was still having weird dreams. The next morning I woke up and I was still really anxious but the serious side effects went away. For 2 more days I still felt anxious and it was the worst thing ever. Everyone told me this was really rare and I don't think any of the people there at the ER really knew what was going on. This is a scary drug. I just wanted to share my story."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I have been dealing with chronic nausea/vomiting for almost a year. I have had every test in the book and they all come back negative. I've tried medications for irritable bowel syndrome and I've tried Phenegran and Zofran. None of which worked. I also used the transdermal Scoplamine patch, which helped a little. Finally, my doctor prescribed Compazine suppository and I have had great relief of my nausea/vomiting. I hope to be able to stay on this for a long time. It is a wonder medicine."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "This is the only medication I have ever been given in my ENTIRE life that has made me literally want to rip out my IV and run out of the ER. I was given this in the ER to curb the side effects of my lumbar puncture. I have anxiety and RLS so in the beginning I thought I was just experiencing a minor panic attack. I felt so restless that I had to go to the bathroom just to do something with myself. When I got back to the bed I immediately told my gf that I wanted to leave. Was pushing the call light. And damn near left screaming. I flipped my shot on the doctor and he said this was a common side effect. I told him I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack and he gave me Benadryl and some kind of benzo. Absolutely horrid."

Compazine (prochlorperazine) "I've never experienced anxiety, I don't take any medication for anxiety, but thanks to this drug I had my first panic attack. I went to the ER for extreme nausea due to pain killers given to me to alleviate the pain of some kidney stones. Right after being given this medication I started feeling jittery and like I couldn't breathe. 10 minutes later I wanted to rip out my own IV, my entire body was shaking and was having facial contractions. The doctor laughed it off saying I was being overly dramatic and I just needed to breath. It was the worse experience I've ever had, and I thought the kidney stones were bad enough. 3 days later and I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. I will never take this drug again and have no idea why it's still in the market."

"Those who had negative experiences all seem to have received it by IV at the ER. The pills taken as needed for nausea don't give me any side effects. While it's not miraculous, it helps with nausea, headaches, and anxiety."
